Kappa Mulakittath
Kappa mulakittath Or Tapioca Curry
Ingredients:
- Tapioca or kappa : 500 gm ( 1 large size)
- Onions: 1 nos (Chop into small pieces)
- Ginger: a small piece
- Garlic: 8 to 10 cloves.
- Green chilies: 5 to 6 nos (sliced)
- Curry leaves
- Turmeric powder
- Red chili powder
- Salt: as required( 1 to 2 tbs)
- Oil: as required
- Mustard Seeds: 1 tbs
- Water:required
Preparation:
Clean the Tapioca and cut into medium sized pieces
Cook the Tapioca pieces in a pressure cooker along with 1/2 tbs turmeric powder , 1 tbs of salt, and required water(cover the tapioca pieces). Cook minimum 4 whistles. Then off the flame and allow to cool.
In a mixer crush the ginger, garlic, and green chilies.No need to make a paste, need to just crush all together. Or you can chop all into small pieces.
In a pan add 2 tbs oil, then splutter the mustard seeds. Saute crushed ginger-garlic paste, and some curry leaves. once its raw taste removed, add onion pieces saute well. Then add 1 tbs turmeric powder, 1 tbs red chili powder, required salt(3/4 tbs) and required water for gravy(1/4 glass more) , mix it well.
Add cooked tapioca piecesinto the pan and cook for 2 minutes by closing the pan with a lid.
Tasty and simple Tapioca curry or kappa mulakittath ready to serve.
Serve with Chapati , poori, puttu, pathiri etc….
